Default Should I Build?

Hey I'm about to spend a fair wack of money on a laptop ~$2500 and was planning on getting -
'1Gb of RAM', '128Mb Video card', '15.4" WS' & '80Gb HDD' -
and so on and so forth so I was wondering if it was worth in say 6-8 Months time building myself a Desktop computer more for like games (I would still use the laptop for typing in comfort (eg. lying on the couch lol). So if i was to build myself a desktop aswell what price in AU$'s would I be looking at to be able to see decent change from the laptop to desktop that would cause me to sway more to the Desktop (therefore giving up ability to lie around the house and use it) to head back to the old desk.
So to sum it up basically just two questions,
1. Would I feel the diffence great enough to make the swich when it comes to games.
AND
2. What price in AU$'s (bought off australian sites or sites that offer postage here) would I be looking at to feel that difference?

Thanks for everyones input,
Dylan

1. if ur into playing games then ur gonna have to spend a lot of money on a gaming laptop to play current games well

2. u get a lot more for the money when u build a desktop

so i wuld wait and build a desktop and i dont know about the whole currency thing but if u are willing to spend around 2500USD then u can have a really nice computer.

even if that 2500 is aus then tha is still a decent chunk of change. you will be able to get a pretty good machine for that much. xe.com says 2500 aus is 1,884.03 USD
