Default DVD ROM blackout!

ey guys! need help on my dvd rom!

I was playin a dvd movie disc but decided to stop and take it out. after a while, i reinserted the same disc and played it again but this time, the rom could no longer play the disc. It keeps on readin the disc and the harddisk red light indicator is on. It then all ended up nothin so i pressed the reset button for restart.

Problem: dvd rom wont read anymore. not even audio cd nor data cd. I also tried inserting a bootable win98 disc and tried bootin from there. still wont read. Not even in DOS environment. WHAT COULD BE A POSSIBLE REASON FOR THIS? THANKS IN ADVANCE!

I had that same problem, for me, it was because one of ide pins connecting the drive to the mobo was bent. i bent it back and it works fine now! check to see your ideo connection, because they could be easily bent.

Smile i had the same problem...

I have had the same problem, but not as simple as a bent pin
One minute, everything was working fine, the next nothing
Having looked at my computer for hours confused, i decided to take it into a computer shop
They did some tests and discovered my motherboard had become corrupt, making the drive impossible to function correctly
A new motherboard was inserted an everything was fine
Hope that your problem is not as bad as this, but maybe it is worth taking it into a local computer shop for a look

i had that problem before, except for my entire DVD drive shut down..until i restarted and it's all good. Try unplugging and replugging everything from the drive.
