agreed. barely though. ive never really looked at 7800gs benchmarks... but im sure the 7800gt is SLIGHTLY better... mostly because it supports PCI-E though.. and the extra pipelines. if you have an AGP slot though, its definitely a nice alternative way to save money. 7900gt bad? HA no the 7900gt is really good... i have the 7900gtx and its amazing.. but im sure a 7900gt will run anything on high with respectable FPS because i had a 7800gt and that did as well.
