Default doubt in installing Win XP

hi all
i want to install Win Xp on my comp.
My hdd is completely formatted ,
The xp cd which i have is non-bootable.
so how can i install Xp in such situation?
plz help me.
Can i boot from floppy & then run setup from cd?
plz plz plz help me.

I was under the impression that all the WinXP CDs are bootable. What's your system specs? Maybe something's wrong with your CD-ROM drive.

As well as that, you may need to check the boot order in your BIOS.
I don't see the point in having a non-bootable OS installion CD

Yes you can get a non bootable os. Get an 98 boot disk/start up disk follow the instructions then when it says boot from cd do that then you should be able to install it.

now listen the ammount of times ive installed windows xp i no the way around.


start off with a bootable cd either windows 98 or 95 not 2000.

then when it askes go into start with cd rom support

then stick the windows xp disk in and put in the command

cd:\i386 and then when ure in this folder type winnt.exe

done it will boot from this

There are many apps that you can use to make your copy bootable but I think I'd use this http://www.nliteos.com/... You can use it just to make your copy bootable or you can use all it's cool features too integrate drivers and remove windows components etc.

that nlite is soo awesome, fixed all my installation prblems and made my disc bootable. Slipstramed SP2 into the basic WinXP install too, brilliant
