Default PCI express

Hello:

New around these here parts - was wondering if anyone knows about installing SB audigy (older model SB0350) with a newer motherboard that uses PCI express. Will the sound card work? Are these PCI express ports backward compatible with regular PCI peripherals?

Thanks in advance-
Tom

PCI AND PCI-E SLOTS are completly differnet PCI SLOTS are for soundcards and other devices. PCI-E SLOTS are for videocards. a soundcard will not fit in PCI-E SLOT but will fit in a PCI SLOT.

PCIe is NOT only for video. There's a full range of slots, but it's currently only really used for video. If you don't beleive me, check on newegg.

i know that pci can be used for video to. but i was just trying to get the person that made this thread to understand that a soundcard cant go into a PCI-E slot right now but it may happen someday.

I dont think that is what he was saying, a sound card CAN go into a pcie slot, just not a 16x one.

Are you sure your mobo doesn;t ALSO have a PCI slot?

A thousand thank-yous guys-

I thought my new mobo only had the PCI Express slots but after looking I realized it had both. And I do understand that at this point only video cards are being made but in the future they'll probably made others as well.

Thanks large dudes-
