Question Audio problem

My system build has a Gigabyte Duo Pro motherboard with onboard Azalea sound. The sound was great, but it kept cutting out, so I disabled the onboard sound in the BIOS and bought and installed an Audigy 2 ZS sound card. Everything was great for a couple of months, then one day I turned the computer on and had no sound. After rebooting a few times, sound came back. I went back in the BIOS and checked to make sure that onboard sound was disabled, and opened the computer and checked that the Audigy card was firmly seated. My sound has blipped out a couple of times since then, often coming back after a couple of days or a couple of reboots. It blipped out again today and I plugged another set of speakers in that I know works and they weren't working either. It never blips out in the middle of computer use. It's either on or off when I turn the computer on, and it stays that way for the duration. Is there something else I should be checking?

Thanks!
