Default problems uninstalling itunes

i recently reinstalled windows on my laptop (i dont really know much about computers but i somehow reinstalled windows but kept all my documents, programs etc). since then i have not been able to update my ipod with itunes; it tells me i need to reinstall it. however, when i try to uninstall it in "add/remove programs" a small window pops up and goes again immediately so i cant read what it says, and i cannot uninstall it. Ive tried running the itunes setup thing again and it asks me if i want to repair or remove itunes. whichever i choose it tells me "this action is only valid for products currently installed". does anyone know how i can un/reinstall itunes? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks
