Well i never tried the z-5500's before, but i have the z-5300's and there great. They have excellent sound quality, nice loud bass, it can play audio extremely loud, and it has alot of functions on the remote.

However the surround sound doesnt work for me anymore, i dont know if its my fault or a problem with the system itself.

what do you mean your surround sound isnt working. is it just your center channel speaker that aint working or whats not working?
