Default Uprepairable errors on disk...

A friend's computer seems busted, and I'm trying to figure out the diagnosis - I have a feeling it is the hard disk...

Here's how it goes:

You switch on the computer; seems that Windows is starting, but soon a blue screen comes, stays on for a fraction of a second, and the computer reboots...

You boot using a Windows CD and use 'repair' to go to the DOS prompt...

A C:\>dir comand returns a directory enumeration error...

You do a chkdsk /p and after 41% you get the error that there are 'unrepairable errors' on the disk, and the check disk stops...

The computer is a 3-yr old IBM laptop and no component has been changed since...

Any suggestions??

Thanks!

It sounds like your Hard Drive has failed. I doubt it you can bring it back to life. Run the Manufactures Drive test on it and see what error code it gives you.
