Default 2 computers, 2 different results

I use two computers, one at work and one at home. On both I have Adaware, spybot, spyware blaster, and ie-spyad. I also run the ewido beta scans. Work has Norton antivirus. Home has the McAfee suite. I update often and scan often. I visit the same sites at work as I do at home. I rarely get detections of crapware at work. At home I'll get 28 from Adaware and just as many from ewido. What's going on?

The firewall at home is just the software version of McAfee. I think I disabled the XP version. At work, as far as I know, we use wireless routers that I guess can act as a hardware version of a firewall. I think I disabled the XP firewall.
I don't know exactly the McAfee version, but I'm pretty sure it's the latest since I get prompted of the updates that were installed. At work I erred. It's Symantec's anti-virus version 8.1.0.825

i'd personally prefer norton over mcafee.

however, it might be the version of the two programs. u said that u had mcafee at home and it askes for updates. now is that updates to the program itself? or virus updates?

and is it like norton 2005 antivirus.. etc? or anything like that? mcafee security suite.. etc...

and do u know of the difference in the two programs? whether they are stand alone programs like antiviruses strictly, or security/internet suites where it comes with everything from antivirus to spyware, firewall, registry cleaner, etc.

The McAfee is the complete security package. It updats automatically. I'm guessing that includes virus updates and software updates. The Symantec is virus scan only. The XP firewall is disabled.
