Default i'm not sure how to make my computer faster, but i think its something with ram?

ok, so i want to make my computer faster, but not buy a new one. i don't know a whole lot a about computers and i've read that faq on rams. ok so, lemme compare my friends ocmputer. we both have 2.2ghz, he has a pentium 4 and i have a celeron. he has 512mb and i hav 256mb ram. so i was thinking if i just upgrade my ram, my computer will also be faster in loading things? and also, do i need to change my cpu brand also? k thanks, sorry i'm not that smart

Even if you do get the same amount of RAM that your friend does you will still be slower because he has a better processor. Yes, your computer will be faster but not as fast as your friend's computer.

Upgrading to a gig might give you a bit of an edge in certain memory intensive tasks. But his processor is better as said above.

If you are running a 2.2 Intel then you are most likely running DDR memory. What memory are you using? Make sure if your motherboard supports DDR only that you don't get the newer DDR2.

well first tell us your specs, details bout processor, motherboard, ram and all the other stuff. then we'll help you list some items. And how much money do you want to spend?
