Hi, My name is Anthony. I've been working on computers for about 5 years now, I'm 15 years old and I like to play guitar. I joined this forum because I want to be able to help share my knowledge and help others and also to get help on questions I have. I just bought a new laptop and I'm wondering what I can get to upgrade the processor. Its a Toshiba Satellite A55-S1064. I bought it cause it was all I could afford right now, but I plan to make it better. What kind of processor can I buy, I want a Pentium for it, but I don't know because the Celeron in it seems to have different pins then my Dell Inspiron 2650 which has a Pentium in it. I know much more about desktops so I need help on this one so what should I buy? Can anyone help? Thanks

-Anthony

Well you'll have to check if your motherboard can support a Pentium chip or not. Since the motherboard isnt available at a local store, to find the specs, you'll have to contact Toshiba. I doubt they'll tell though since they dont want you to open up your system.

Well does anyone know what the back of a socket 479 looks like? I need a diagram of the pins. My dell one seems to be different then my Toshiba one.

it's fairly complicated to tune up a laptop... are you sure you want to take that route?

Even if it actually did fit, there's no telling if the board will work with that certain chip. Some boards will work with Celeron and not P4, and vice versa. The only way to know is to contact Toshiba Tech Support because we wouldn't know. It wasn't made for user manipulation. The question is, would they tell you?
