Ok, something really weird happened yesterday and I've been racking my brains out trying to find out the cause, but anyway...
Yesterday I bought a case (the same one as the one in the computer forum logo ) and I had to move everything into it. I boot up and everything seems to be working. At first I didn't notice not hearing the welcoming sound, but when I wanted to play music - obviously then I noticed.I cant understand why just changing the case would stop the sound, so it leads me to believe I've broken something during the transfers of the motherboard. But everything else went ok... I've checked it's not the speakers by plugging in a working pair of headphones... Looked to check it's using the correct audio device, etc... Please help me, Thanks.

do you have onboard sound or a soundcard? Make sure the default device isn't set to the wrong one.

Right then, I have tried a cheapo sound card (one with a modem in it, called a "Unimodem Half-duplex device), and still no go... So it's gotta be a setting or something, right? I have already checked in the audio devices section...
A strange thing, is that the speakers make a sort of distortion noise every now and then, as if it's trying to play something...

are you plugging the speakers for the front panel audio connectors or the ones on the I/O panel?

Update:
The mic works when connected in the motherboard, just the speakers that don't... Any ideas?
