Hey, I got one of those Though I only control one fan using it(the processor fan in my old P3)

I wouldn't load 5 fans on it just to be safe, escpially if they are fairly high performance fans that draw a good bit of current.

I'm really not sure, but it can't be all that different if you just want basic control. Does that one control a few fans indipendently? This, obviously, controls them all at the same time. But it seems to do so very smoothly and doesn't get too hot, at least with my one fan. I really can't complain...

Fans don't draw alot of current, it should be fine.

Some I was looking at once suggested not plugging them into the motherboard headers as they were known to burn them out

But doesn't that fan controller connect from the PSU and to the case fans?
