Default Avast

I use this anti software. When I download something off the internet, do I just right click on my mouse and then select the virus scanner? When I do this it scans but then the window just flashes off, shouldnt I get a report even if no virus are found.

No it just does a quick scan...same thing happens to me. It will only alert you if a virus is found.

Does it pick uo viruses on unzipped files? when I do a scan, is there anything it cannot scan properly?

Yes is scans unzipped files. If you meant zipped files it does that also. If your unsure about a file right click it and you will see a scan "filename" option.

Just make sure you have automatic updates on for avast, and its not blocked by your firewall.
