Default hey just wondering

i was wondering just wondering i dont do this stuff but when you get hacked or someone hacks you the police wont get involved unless you report something or do they just come knocking on you door or something ive allways been curious how the hacking laws are brought in place ect any one no

You need proof, and they have to do something of notable offence. If they "hack" onto your computer and change your wallpaper to gay man pr0n...not really a crime. Or if they erase all your HDD data, not much the cops will do, if anything. Basically on a PERSONAL computer level, you're probably better off just moving on and trying to be more secure.

I think the "hacking" only matters on a bigger level, businesses and such having security problems and people gaining access to client info like SS# and such. but i might be wrong.

erm would something like knoppix a bootable linux cd be classed as a hcking tool

Knoppix is an operating system, theres nothing illegal about it.

yah its just a linux distro, and available free off the internet. I know some places sell it (boggles my mind, its free other places) so i suppose if you stole it from a place that was selling it, that would be illegal.
