latest WMP Updates make movies B&W

has anyone recently done a group of four automatic updates from microsoft?
more specifically, the one 'security update for windows media player 10 (KB911565)'.
after i installed that one, MOST of my movies played in black and white.
they play fine with VLC player but not with WMP10.
to get around it i have uninstalled the update but am wondering if anyone knows why this is happening?

Sometimes the WMP updates can affect 3rd party codecs, like divx etc. You might have to reinstall the codec after updating.
