Unhappy problem starting up my computer

First Post Ever!

I've just started to mod my computer for the first time. I got an all acrylic case, 2 case fan, 2 laser cut "lion" fan grill, a lighted up power supply with green cable. The computer spec (just a sketchy info as far as i could find out) 1.6 ghz processor, 512 MB DDR Ram, 1 120 GB hard Drive(empty drive), 1 40 GB drive (holds win xp and all my files).

I had just gotten a hard drive cable for 2 hard drive. The original computer had a single hard drice cable. So i've hooked both hard drive up and had the 120 gb drive formatted via a bootable hard drive utilities CD. (got no connection for floppy drive). at first it have gotten stuck at verifying DMI Pool Data then it started to restart itself everytime it got to this point. Now at times it doesn't recognize any drive at all and get stuck in ....

Verifying DMI Pool Data .............

Intel UNDI, PXE-2.1 (build 082)

For Realtek RTL8138 (X)/8130/810X PCI Fast Ethernet Controller v2.16 (041224)
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-MOF: Exiting PXE ROM
Disk Boot Failure, Insert system disk and press enter.
I've had switched back to the single 40GB hard drive i've been using all along and it still behaves this way. And when i got the computer there was no system disk or anything similar to it except for a NERO cd-burning utilities CD.

Please help me out cause i don't really have that much money and can't afford to have it fixed in a computer shop just yet. Any help would be great.
