Question Windows XP sp2 Outlook Express 6?

First off iv'e been using windows 98 forever!, iv'e just bought a new Dell computer with windows XP sp2, iv'e noticed 2 things, first i don't have the Dial-up network connection icons on my toolbar?, yes, i still use dial-up!, you know those 2 little computers that blink when you have network activity!, that's no problem, i just downloaded toggleNETLIGHTS.com, that took care of that problem, But i also noticed that i don't have any E-mail notification sounds when e-mail arrives?, i also don't get the little envelope in my taskbar after all the e-mails have been downloaded?, no sounds, NOTHING?, the computer came preinstalled with PC-cillin internet security, the only way i know im getting e-mail is when this starts scanning and i get the pop sound., iv'e gone into the control panel and all the sounds are enabled and iv'e gone into outlook express and checked the "play sounds when new messages arrive", STILL NO SOUND!.......... IM READY TO FDISK AND INSTALL WINDOWS 98!!!!!!!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Default

Try this In Outlook:

Go to Tools - Options - General - Make sure the "play sound for new messages" box is checked, there should also be a check box for something like "show an evenlope icon in the system tray" make sure that is checked aswell. Also check the "send and recieve messages at startup" and check for "new messages" and set a time. Make sure the sound is not set to mute.
