Default Primary slave hard disk fail

Hi, This is my first post, Ive come here in search, in a desperate search for help.

Last night, i turned my computer off like every night, everything was working fine. This morning I went to turn my computer on and it gave me a message after the IDE auto detect saying that the primary slave hard disk had failed (or something like that)...
I have two hard drives, and when i turn the computer on, i hear them both spin on. But I also hear what sounds like a lazer gun sound effect from a mid 70s sci fi movie. I dont rmember hearing this sound before.
The sound seems to be coming from the drive the is on top... it has label on it that shows how to configure the jumpers (i think thats what they are, im think they are the little pins that can be covered by the little white things in certain ways to tell the computer which drive it is (slave, master, etc.) ), and it seems like that drive is configured to be slave. I checked the label on the drive and the drive it self and the drive has them configured like this... (forgive my attempt at rawing this with the keyboard).
Code:
           _  _
  o  o  o |o||o|
     o  o |o||o|
_
(the | | is supposed to the little white things that go over the little pins.)

and on the label, it said that was - Device 1 (Slave)

On the IDE auto detect thing that happens when the computer starts up, it says this

Primary Master : None
Primary Slave : (its blank)
Secondary Master : GCR -85### (I cant remember the numbers)
Secondary Slave : None

This is all the information i can give you...
Please help me, i have hours upon hours of work on that computer, with many mmusical compositions that are very important (yes i know stop, because everybody's problem is the worst to come in the last 50 years)

Thank you
Patrizio
