I used to use Fedora Core 4, but i had problems with libary's so i switched to Ubuntu. Ubuntu is great for beginners and has a very easy program called Automatix which downloads alot of basic programs.
I only messed Ubuntu up by deleting my home directory, i dont reccommend doing that. It's only 1 disk and doesn't take a long time to install, i reccommend you try it and if you don't like then don't use it. http://www.ubuntu.com Hope it helps, Rowan. |

Ubuntu also has a LIVE cd (which Fedora doesnt) so if you want to run it and test it out first to see if you like it but really since linux is free, most people just download and install different versions to play around with them and just end up using the one they like most.

Well, I'm glad you are all atleast trying linux. You're probally using a dated version of redhat, unless you paid for it. In other words, give fedora core 4 a try.
SuSe is really my favorite beginner distro. I haven't tried Ubuntu, but from a beginners stand point I've heard great things about it. |
