Default Underclocking

Im currently running my 7800GTX at 95/192 (can get 92/190 but its tends to be on the unstable side) ... has anyone with a G70 series card hit anything (significantly) lower? If so, were there any neato tricks that had to be done?

can i ask why you are forcing it to run at such low speeds. I would hve thought the whole point of spending $450 on a gfx card was to run at high speeds, no??

Are you trying to see how poor you can make your card?

You'll probably need to modify the delta in the cards BIOS.

Default Stay on topic.

Guys, Praetor and others are doing this to have as cool a computer as possible. At such low frequencies, the card remains cool and handles 2D perfectly fine.

thats all well and good, but that means that whenever you want to play a game or other 3D graphics program, your going to need to change the frequencies.

BTW, whats the temps now at those speeds?

It runs 275/1250 (stock) in 2D mode. Now I dont need to run 5 trillion ghz for 2D mode.... I'm just looking to drop the idle temops for the card (that and i paid nowhere near $450 for the card... closer to $300CAD but your point was understood)

No it doesnt. The NV4x and G7x have indepdent 2D and 3D clocks (cant remember about anything before been a long time) (even if that were the case, its a simple case of using profiles ... that and i dont play that many games all the time so even if manual was required, thats not a problem)

Hehe for you ill quote the room temp It's 15C or so in this room and the card is idling at 32-33C; at night when the room drops to -10C or so the card drops to the ballpark of 25C (will check tonight)

I dont sleep that much (usually once or twice a week ... usually when im chatting with some people and just decide to coma ) but its really not that cold .... i live with two girls who insist on running the upstairs parts of this house as a sauna .... i try to balance the temps out a bit ... when i clean up my room (and find my camera) ill take some pics if yer interested.

Been spending a lot of time at my friend's place so ive not been around the machine (and the cold) much ... so ive just got it on batch video encode and so theres little for me to do here on any of the machines.
