Default usb on windows 98 second edition

hi

i have windows 98 SE and i know that previously i have had trouble using usb keys with this system due to drivers etc.

i currently have an external hard drive that i want to connect up to this system. the external hard drive will connect to the system via an ide->usb cable

what driver will i need to get it running on my system?

thanks, paddy

there should be a driver with the hard drive... however i dont know anyone that has an external hard drive who uses it on windows 98 SE. if you dont have a driver disk for the drive i suggest you visit the manufacturer's website

Anything before 2000 has some problems with USB. You shouldn't have much of a problem with 98SE, but it certainlly isn't nearly as easy as 2000 +...

Look for drivers that came with the key/drive, or search on the internet for the manufacturer's site. Sometimes they only provide drivers there rather than a CD.
