Default Regedit Problem

when I type in regedit on run I get the following:
C:Windows\system32\regedit.com
The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instsruction.
CS:0561 IP:ffe4 OP:fe ff 1d 09 c6 Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

On the bar on the top it shows (16bit MS-DOS Subsystem)
If I type in Regedit32 it tells me it cannot find the file.

I need to access Regedit to delete a file so can try and correct a problem according to Sandisk with my minicruzer.

Is there a way I can go to my WinXP installation disc and extract the file and add it to my system file??

Tks in advance FW

Intel P4
WinXP Pro
525 mg mem
ATI AIW 9800 Pro

Have you tried it in safe mode?

Also, try to open regedit by searching for the file name then right click and open with 'run as'.
