Default Video Card Question

hello, im new here, and dont know much about computers but really wants to learn (noob, haha) and i was wondering if the Nvidia 6600 video card will fit in my computer or will even work. because i asked my friend what is a good video card to purchase for my comp and a price range of $100 - $130 and to play games like WoW and maybe RF Online. i have a sony vaio (PCV-RS 310) model that was purchased 3 yrs ago, and it has a intel extreme graphics (64 MB), and my friends says that its integrated onto the motherboard. but i was wondering if i can just turn it off or w/e and put a new video card in. can you guys help me out, about like if my comp is even eligible to have a video card installed and such. thanks

The big question is if you have an AGP slot. Probably the easist thing to do is pop the machine open and check...

As for disabling the graphics, it should do that automatically if you do have an AGP slot and install an AGP card...

Otherwise, you'll be limited to PCI(NOT PCI express) I beleive there's a Nvidia 5500 or 5700 you could use...

The 6600 AGP is decent, it's on the lower side of midrange. What make and model of motherboard do you have?

AGP

I checked the specs, you got an AGP slot so it should work without a problem. Of course you might be limited as we don't know your processor/RAM, etc...but it would work

Download and run CPU-Z. Click on the mainboard tab and it will tell you.

it says you have 504MB of memory because it takes around 64MB for the video. And the 6600agp is a decent card, but i would look into the 6600GT for ~$130.
