Default legacy audio drivers

i recently bought a new soundcard, the soundblaster audigy se. Before installing it,, i decided to delete all my current audio drivers. i removed my realtek ac'97 codec and uninstalled the "legacy audio driver" in the sound portion of device manager. i then installed the sound card with the included drivers and everything works. My question is, was it okay to uninstall the legacy audio driver? Everything seems to be working fine, but i wasnt sure about uninstalling it..
