Is it the housing end to end (assuming they are all square), mounting hole center to center or blade diameter. I would guess that it's the end to end, but are the mounting hole c/c the same for all manufactures? Is it an industry standard they all adhere to?

There are industry standards of 80mm x 80mm, and 120mm x 120mm. Not sure but i think these are measured from the edge of the casing, so their screw holes are set apart by slightly less.
Is this relating to a specific problem the forum may be able to help with? |

Had a buddy recently put together a comp for me and the case fan sounds like a jet engine. Since I have little knowledge of hardware, wanted to ask so I can replace the fan with something a lot less noisey and more efficient ... which is another hurdle. I told my buddy to put in an X2 4400+ and an A8N-SLI Premium, but the rest of the hardware I left to his discression. Over the years I've thrown away comps due to a slow CPU, so this time I figured software technology should grow into the X2.
