you can in some cases, however if you want to do this i would suggest that you look at all of the models in the family of notebooks you have and then look at the top processor in that family. Thats the absolute maximum that you should go for because there's no guaranty that the notebook will support higher and the thermal module inside the notebook is only designed to deal with processors of a particular thermal envelope
