Question Seriously Confused - STRANGE!!!

Hey, im in a good mood because i am finally able to re-overclock my P4, i did it fine for ages then it wouldnt let me. Nayway, on with the strange story....

Normal core speed is 2.8Ghz, running at that for ages, tis idle is 48*c, it always has been, rises to like 51 when under slgiht load. I overclocked it, its currently on3.26Ghz, (will go further once i figure out whats going on), at 3.26Ghz, the idle temp is a cool 42*c, thats 6*c lower than at 2.8Ghz.... WTF!!!!

I use speedfan to monitor and record temps etc.. i know tis not entirley accurate so i went into BIO, left it for 5 mins and checked, !!! 42*c !!!

So incase you got confused aswell in all that rambling, at 2.8Ghz it ran at 48*c and at an overclocked 3.26Ghz, it rana t a cooler 42*c. What the hell is going on. Why is ti that when i force ti to overclock it runs cooler. LOL, it completely goes against everythign ive ever seen/learnt

this process is never an exact science, and wired things can happen. Are we sure that we had 48 idle at 2.8? and vcore changes?

no vcore changes took place, my board isnt good enough for that, lol. and yes, i am very VERY sure it was 48*c, i even checked that in the BIOS aswell, i un-overclocked it and checked it, 48 down to 42 is really strange.

I have an Arctic Cooling Super Silent Ultra 4 on there, but it hasnt got any feature that speeds it up or anything, its the same speed all the time.

then your temp measurements are wrong.. theyre inaccurate depending on the board and such... flukes happen.
edit: same thing for the 48-->42 on o/c, could be an inaccurate reading... or maybe the o/c effected the thermometer thingy

its a possibility, i could except a drop of 1-2 degrees and put it down to yet another strange oc phenomina, but a 6 degree drop. Truth is i have no idea why
