Question WD Caviar RE WD1600YD - 16MB cache, 7200RPM

http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.asp?DriveID=192

Hey guys,

I have an option to buy this HDD but there is one thing that struck me. It has an amazingly high MTBF (1 million hours) and carries the RE name. It refers to RAID EDITION. I know this may be a dumb question, but will it suffer in terms of performance without another one in RAID configuration? Does it simply use the RE name because it has been designed to work flawlessly in RAID environments?

I would think there wouldn't be any drop in performance, unless its stability is due to something being slower, but it doesn't look that way so I'd think you would be fine
