if the 7900gtx turns out to be better, then id get that. but i also heard that if the 7900 becomes the king of cards then ATI will lower thier prices to compete.

umm... nobody knows for sure yet. my guess is the 7900gtx will be better just because nvidia will obviously try to come up with something better and faster than the x1900xtx.... x1900xt < x1900xtx by 25mhz core 100mhz memory

however, as i said nobody knows for sure yet. try asking once the 7900 edition is out.

Personally, the X1900XT is the best deal you can get in the above $400 range. You overclock it slightly, and get the X1900XTX, which is comparable to the 7800GTX 512MB, for a LOT less money. The 7900GTX will be WAY overpriced, so I'd suggest saving your pennies and getting the X1900XT. Then you can buy the next cream of the crop graphics card next time around.

ok, next question... do you guys prefer crossfire or sli??? i know crossfire allows you to use essentially different cards, but is it fool-proof so far?

SLi is a lot more efficient, as in the card overead due to cross-talk is a lot less than on crossfire. crossfire has a lot of known but unsolved bugs, SLi is virtually flawless on al supported cards. At the moment SLi is the better choice until ATi get crossfire bumped up a bit.

I think SLI has proven that it is better.
