Default laptop screen issues

hello. i have a great quality laptop that i bought at frys a little over a year ago. just recently, the screen doesnt light up, so i cant really see anything on the screen. i cant seem to figure out whats wrong with it and i dont really want to take it to the shop yet.

Probably a short in the backlight. My dad's has a similar problem... Well, the backlight flickers or sometimes goes completely out. With his, if you move the screen back and forth, it USALLY corrects it...

With you, it all depends on how bad the short is. There's probably not too much you can do if this ends up being the problem. You could try to fix the wire. It might not be the best idea to splice it and put more wire on there, but perhaps you could move it so the short isn't as bad. Or, perhaps you could find a working screen on ebay?

thanks the other one. at the moment, the laptops working. i noticed a couple times when i turned it on that the screen would usually go out at the boot screen....so could it possibly be a software issue?

Try to move the screen back and forth. See if it flickers or anything. I doubt software would cause the backlight to go out, espcailly while it's still running.

Something else, the suspend/lid button typically causes the backlights to go out. So, if you don't have it set to suspend, that button could be shorting out as well...

Hey there,
i had that same problem on an old laptop i had me and my dad poped open the
screen and found some sort of chip, we put one from another laptop we had and it worked fine, but i couldn't keep the chip so i had to buy a brand new laptop
cause the other one was tooooo old to get parts....
like the_other_one said have a look on ebay.

If it i not plugged in, it will be Dimmmer than when it is. You can also use the function up key "FN + up"
