I have an old Packard Bell Multimedia 415 that was given to me be a family friend. Im 14, and trying to learn some more about the inside of the computer, so I am trying to upgrade it myself. My uncle gave me 128mb of RAM to put in it but the computer doesnt seem to like it. I know one piece isnt going to work because it is only PC66. The other is a Toshiba 64MB PC100 168-Pin Single Sided Piece. He told me it should work just fine. The computer boots with it but when I got to System Properties, it doesnt read all of the RAM
Specs: Intel Pentuim Processor with MMX Technology 166 MHz Packard Bell v1.25 BIOS (just updated) Packard Bell-810 Motherboard 24MB RAM (16MB and 8MB both PC100, 2 Memory Slots DIMM) 2MB Video Memory Windows 98 SE OEM (just updated from 95 and I have also installed all the latest updates and SP's) 3.2GB HDD Panasonic 16x CD-ROM Drive Omega Zip Disk Drive 3 1/2 Floppy Drive Belkin Wireless-G Card Programs Installed: Mozilla Firefox AVG Free Editon Also, could anyone tell me how I can overclock my processor, or if I can. how many chips are on the ram stick that was in there on one side, actually is it an even or an odd number and the same for the one you put in.
if odd number could be parity ram even number non parity can not mix both the speed,,, you can put fast ram in a slow system, can not put slow ram in a fast system. |
