Default F.E.A.R not working

Just bought fear earlier today but i'm having problems:
When I first installed it i could get into the game and start a new game, it would start to load then exit and go back to windows with a message saying "not enough memory" or something along those lines - even though I had 5 gig free space in C drive before installation. I then free'd an additional 1 gig when the error message came up but it still didn't work.
I also downloaded an update which came up when I loaded the game.

Then I re-started my computer, tried to load the game but a message came up saying "Original disk could not be found or authenticated"

So now i can't even get into the game
Has anyone experienced these problems and is their a solution? or shall i just take it back to the shop?

Ive got an AMD athlon XP 2600+ 1.92 GHz, 768 MB of RAM, nvidia geforce 6800 GT graphics card.

I had the demo which ran fine, and my computer runs all the other latest games ok.

you probably didn't install the local c drive spaces right. I mean I just brought me a ram and I had someone install it for me. And I have no problem with it.

I just followed the instuctions that were on screen, the same i do with all the other games and havent had problems with them. Do you know what the disk authentication thing is all about? i even tried re-installing it to no avail.
