Media editing laptop

Im looking for a new laptop that will easily be able to handle editing of music, pictures, and vidio using high demand programs such as premiere and photoshop. This requires cpu of about 2GHz (maybe more) and RAM of 1gb+. Preferably centrino, and could have a decent graphics card (not integrated). All this for around $2,000. I've seen the toshiba g25-av513, a very nice piece of equipment, i must say. There is also a fujitsu lifebook I know of, not too sure of the model number/name though. But htis one is much more expensive than the toshiba. Ebay is an option for me, as long as it is from a reputable seller and none of those people that sell stolen items for wicked cheap prices just to get rid of it. I don't trust them

. But let me know if anyone knows of any other nice laptops that could handle what I described for around $2,000. Less is always better

. Oh, and I would hardly ever do any gaming. Mostly the video editing. So a firewire port is a must and a nice big 17" screen would be just dandy...

Yes the Qosmio from Toshiba's got one of the best screens I've seen. Very nice, but one giant beast. I'd use it for a desktop. As for myself, I've been in the print industry for quite some time now and my trusty Asus Z70Va's one of the best matte screens that I've ever seen on a laptop. The V6Va for the best glossy- It's got an IPS screen on it, so it's got the best viewing angles I've seen on a laptop. Both with dedicated graphics within a stylish, carbon fiber chassis. What type of media are you getting into or currently doing?

I will be using programs like photoshop and premiere, for video and picture editing. on my current dell inspiron 1100 laptop, i'm lucky to even get anything done in photoshop. so anyway, i would need something that can definatly handle these such programs without much diffuculty at all.

alls i can say is, stay away from toshiba laptops, i bought one, worst computer i've ever owned. Nothing but problems, It overheats, the fan is loud as hell and still doesn't put enough airflow to cool down the CPU, I've had to resolder both the power connector and the USB connector, even though the laptop was under warranty toshiba refused to fix it for free, so i had to take apart my laptop and fix it myself.

i've heard that only the satellite line had the massive set of problems - mostly related to overheating.. but i think i'll just try to stay away anyway *(i havn't heard of any overheating complaints about the g_ _ - AV _ _ _ line (now looking at the g15-av501). people mostly complain about the weight. so if anyone knows of any laptop that would be able to do what i want to do, and it doesn't have to have the built in av card, lemme know. thx
