Default Spec help please

Im still learning and i was looking at the premade specs on the 101. I was looking at the general purpose machines. while i was going through the parts learning what they were, why is there two

Maxtor DiamondMax10 250GB 16MB SATA3.0 NCQ ($96.00)

and can some of you pros please clue me in what some of these parts are.

Budget: <1200USD

You can store more in two than in one, other then that I honestly dont know. I am still learning for my first build.

i have 2 harddrives and it is handy... lets say one crashes then u have somewhere to back all ur stuff up

If you have more money to spend, one of the things you could easily upgrade would be the case. Simply choose one you like the look of.
