I would also spend a little more on a bigger hard drive myself

maybe go for a SATA hard drive, that board supports it, or at least a hard drive with an 8 meg buffer to speed up ur transfers, it'll help if u have to use ur swap file, also don't for get ram if you don't already have it

It's reliable, but like all ValueRAM, it's not great for overclocking. Are you sure you only want 512MB? Make sure it works with whatever mobo you decide to get as well (i.e. your mobo doesn't use DDR2)

The X2 3800+ is better, but more expensive. Remember you'll need to change the mobo as well.

What will the machine be used for?

i thought you wanted to spend only up to $500 on the other forum,
but if i were you, the parts that is listed up there is nice,
i would prefer to spend some more now, and not regret later...
