Default network card

I recently aquired a second computer and i want to set up an ethernet network. i have a crossover cable but i read that you have to buy network cards for both computers. both computers have 10/100 lan things on the mobo. can i use those instead of actual cards?

Yup. The adapters on the motherboard work the same as an ethernet card.
