Not neccisarily. Firewire orriginated in the Mac world (and is now dead there), and the PC world was very warry to adopt it. It really has never been a standard, and certainly not on 478. Firewire has been sort of a special niche feature for certain motherboards that have it. Most of the top motherboards until recently were 50/50 of having it, you'd have to kick it down to find a board that supported it.

Firewire 800 is almost double the speed of USB 2.0. I reccomend getting a PCI Firewire card. These are very cheap, and can hold about 3 hook ups in them. If you have the port on the front of your case, there's usually an internal connector right on the expansion card.
