Default email program

hello folks. I currently have a yahoo email account. I like to check it every day. It really does my head in having to log into yahoo.co.uk every time I want a look at my email.
I tried setting up outlook ages ago, and it would not work. I now no that this is because you need to have a paid yahoo account.

I use mozilli firefox and wondered if they do a similiar free thing to outlook which i can download and setup.

Thanks for your help. (p.s not very computer iliterate) BUT IM GETTIN THERE,

# Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: pop.mail.yahoo.com (Port 110)
# Outgoing (SMTP) Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com (Port 25)
# Account Name/Login Name: your Yahoo! ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com")
# Email Address: your Yahoo! Mail address (e.g., user@yahoo.com)

Thumbs up stuck

hello again m8. Done as you said, everything was goin fine. I came to send a message to a friend and screen message appeared.
It read

"the message could not be sent because connecting to the SMTP server mail.smtp.yahoo.co.uk failed. The server may be unavailable or refusing smtp connections. Please verify that your smtp setting are correct and try again."

Can you help any more. Thanks in advance.

Tools > Options > Advanced > General. Change the connection timeout to about 5 minutes, so 300 seconds. It SHOULD work, but if it doesnt, post back and we'll have another crack at it.

EDIT: Also, make sure the smtp port is set to 25

Default port 25

hello m8 me again. Ive set it to 300 seconds. Did not work.
How do i change the port to 25??? This might be the final trick.

p.s - i am able to "get mail". Upon pressing this button my mail appeared. Can I set it up so i automatically get mail when i turn the internet on, (i have dial up argg ).
Also upon pressing this button it only sent me my inbox and bulk emails from yahoo, and i have some sub folders on my yahoo account with emails that i keep in them. Do you know how to transfer these to thunderbird.

Thanks again in advance, speak to you later probably.
