Default Temp Sensor

I finally went out and bought a Zalman CNPS9500LED and VF700-AlCu LED. Hopefully with these, I can sustain a stable 2.4ghz on my cpu and be able to overclock my video card.

I have cool drive 4, and I want to be able to place the temp sensor onto the edge of the CPU for accurate temp readings. I only have it on my heatsink and it's not accurate at all, plus it makes my fan run slower since the temps are lower. Would it ok to place the temp sensor only at the edge of the CPU? The cpu sensor is thin so i can't see it interupting cooling.

edit: I was going to use Arctic silver thermal adhesive.. but im unable to find it anywhere.

Look at this, if you look at picture, it's just on the side/edge.
