Unhappy Computer was not reading DVDs, not won't read CDs or DVDs.

Hey.. I'm having a really weird problem, and if I could get help it'd be REALLY appreciated. Haha.

Well, I bought Oblivion today.. and the install disc is a DVD. I've got two CD drives (I could have sworn one of them could read a DVD, but I guess not).. neither of them would run recognize Oblivion. So, I found an old Samsung DVD drive that I used to use in an old emachines, took out my unused CD-ROM drive and put in the DVD drive. My computer recognized the DVD drive, and still recognizes the main CD-ROM drive I still have in there. I put the DVD in my DVD drive.. the light blinks, but nothing shows up on My Computer, and the DVD drives stops trying to read after a bit. So, I tried putting a normal CD in there.. tried to read it, but nothing came up. So I put a normal CD in my CD-ROM drive.. and it doesn't show up. What the heck? I was just using the same CD in the CD-ROM drive earlier..

I don't see how I could have messed up plugging everything back in. I don't think the cables are the problem. No idea why this is doing this..

Did you plug the IDE cable in the right way? And are one of the drives set to slave, and the other master?

I'm pretty sure the IDE cable is fine.. but now that I think about it, I have a feeling my DVD drive is set as a master as well, so I'll go check on that in a second. If they were both set as masters, would that really make it so both of them couldn't read CDs/DVDs?

That wasn't it.. it was set on slave. Weird. I put it on cs just for the hell of it, it didn't read the DVD drive but my CD drive was working again. I tried another old DVD drive that's screwed up but sorta works. The computer recognized the DVD drive and after a bit actually read the Oblivion CD.. but I think my DVD drive is too slow, because it wouldn't let me install. While this DVD drive was working, the CD drive wasn't working.. ;/
