Ewido was not built by AVG. It was recently aquired.Ewido is very good with 'Trojan' detection and removal.The link i provided was for dealing with 'Spyware'.

IMO, the best 'free' spyware scanner now is 'Superantispyware'- http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html

Real time protection is only offered however in the paid for version.
