Default New camera

Here's what I'm getting on saturday (can't wait):

- Canon EOS 350D with 18/55mm (it's a start...)
- Canon Battery Grip BG-E3 (stability+more battery time)
- SanDisk Extreme III 2 Gb

Looks good, got any specs? Also I'm guessing the battery pack is rechargable...thats a good thing. Now days expensive cameras come with AA batteries that last for like 20 pics...how stupid.

That's a true SLR, correct? I'd like something like that, but they're just so darn expensive! I can't justify spending $1000 on a digital camera. I barely can justify it for my computer!

I was confused at first why anyone wouls want a 17-55 lens. Then I checked the detailed specs and it is the same as a 28-65 in 35 mm format. PERFECT.

A beautiful camera indeed

1) That is a true SLR
2) True passion has no price ==> spending 1100 $ USD on this thing (everything included)!!

Well I could buy a super expensiver Lithium-Ion or 2 to put in there, but I won't, Im putting 6*AAs in there. Besides, I'm not really buying the thing for more battery power (although I'm glad to have it), it's mainly for stability and comfort when holding.

Pulled from review. Great site.

Geeze... And here I'm not even wanting to get the Panasonic FZ-20 for $300 It's not a 'true' SLR but about as close as you can get...

Awesome, the Canon EOS line is god-like. I personally am a fan of DSLR's, but thats cuz' im lazy and poor and cant afford to develop my own prints either. You'll get good quality prints with that camera im sure.

One thing you might be interested in buying is a remote. I like taking nighttime shots, but even with a tripod you have to touch the camera which can fuzz the quality. i think they are relatively cheap, and make for much stabler(sp?) shots.

That's what the self timer is for Some have a 2 second self timer

A remote is often more desirable than the self timer. You know exactly when the shutter is going to trip versus relying on the timer.

You didn't happen to initally try to insert the CF incorrectly did you? I have seen many many cases of this happening.

Again, welcome to an exciting hobby.
