it's really up to you to answer your own question. Do you mind wired or do you like the freedom of wireless. From what I remember reading, they're pretty much the same, but the G7 is wireless. It's got great battery life and an extra battery, so between the two I would pick the G7.

I like my wireless mouse because if I want to move about on my desk (with it), I can. It's all about freedom: if you want lots of freedom, go wireless. If you don't care, save your money and get wired.

I would go with the G5, most likely it performs better since its wired, and i think it looks better as well.
