Default 7800 GTX question

Im going to be picking up a 7800 GTX 256 meg version in a few days... my current PSU is 500 watts but only has 20 amps on the 12v rail... will this be enough? Or am i going to need something beefier...

currently am running only one harddrive and one optical drive if thats somewhat relevant.

thanks in advance!

Hmm, I think it would be enough for it to run barely, or not enough at all...

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you buy a new PSU with at least 26A on the +12v rail.

Agreed. The 7900gt beats the 7800gtx 256 in all tests I've seen.

no 300 canadian is about 250 USD. i would sell it and get a 7900gtx. you might be able to get 300-400 USD if you do b/c 7800gtx's are still being sold for $500-$400. and make a big profit.

Newegg still has the 7800 GTXOC by bfg (the one i am getting) for 519 american, roughly 600 canadian... so i think half of neweggs price is pretty good....
