Need to run Monitor and Projector?

I am needing to run both a monitor and a projector and wanting to know if I can run two video cards? My current video card is a 6600 and has both DVI and VGA but can not run them boht at the same time.

I am hoping I can run a second video card and get both displays working.

Also can someone tell me which is better quality, VGA or DVI?

Here is my Motherboard if it helps with these questions.

well if youre wanting to run a projctor and a monitor on 1 pc, insted of getting a second video card have you thought about a splitter?
my college uses VGA (i think) splitters so they can use a monitor as well as a projector on one pc.....

something like that?

I was told that splitting the VGA signal would make both outputs very dark and be far less quality, thats why I had not considered that.

Well this topic is a little old. So I'm not sure if you've found your answer or not yet. But, your video card should be able to do dual monitors. Most high end cards can. Its quite easy to do and set up.

You CAN get a VGA splitter. I would recommend one that has an amplifier in it so that it does not get dark, ect... They are somewhat exspensive, I would just upgrade your video card if yours can't do dual monitors.

FYI, if ur video card has a vga port AND a dvi, they usually come with an adapter for DVI to vga so u can hook up 2 VGAs at once and setup dual monitors. It's not difficult. Lemme know if u need more help.

Thanks and I have not yet figured it out. I have to unhook my monitor in order for the projector to work. I have the Dvi going out to the projector and the VGA going out to the monitor, but it will only run the first one it senses is conected, even if the power is off, and the cable is conected to the monitor, the signal goes to the monitor. if I disconect the VGA cable then the signal goes to the DVI and projector

You have to add the projector as a secondary monitor via the drivers. I'd show you how to but I have an ATi card now so I can't give you pics on how to do it with nVidia's drivers. You should be able to just connect the monitor and the projector, boot up and right click on your desktop>Properties>Settings>Advanced>"Name of your video card" and from there you should search for an option which has to do with how many monitors you have and their settings.
