Post my desktop is death

hi, pentium 4 windows xp, 1 gb ram, hd 120 gb. My problem is that suddenly the screen freeze up and I couldn`t even restart the system, so I interrupted the power, and when I tried to to start all over, was impossible. After trhee days started again so i used the restore system , and tried to restart and i cuold . Then again after some days i had the same trouble, freeze up and didn`t reboot. The monitor is showing "energy save mode, hit any key or move the mouse" which didn`t work. please help. thankyou.

My first thought is a bad power supply...
