Default possible speed problems

I just built my first computer and i recently did the sisoftware sandra cpu arithmetic benchmark. I have a p4 3.0 ghz processor. I compared my results with some of their reference results and mine were a bit lower than comparable and even some older and slower cpus. The dhrystone alu was 4624 mips, the whetstone fpu was 3173 mflops, and the whetstone isse2 was 3345 mflops. Is there anything I can do to change this? Pleas help.

Default Parts?

Well help us out by listing the other parts in your system and that might have something to do with it! also what kind of cooling do you have on your cpu??
