Default eMachines T6420 Questions

I have a few questions about an emachines T6420.

I can get this PC for $470 USD. Would this be a good deal?

Does anyone know how many PCI slots, PCI-express slots, and AGP slots this computer has?

Also does it have enough power to support a Geforce 6800 GS?

Once I upgrade the video card to the 6800 GS will it be an okay machine for gaming (Games like Americas Army, BF2, Halo, etc. on medium settings.)?

Here are some links about the system:

Edit your first post, and you can change the title there.

It isn't a bad deal, though you could do a lot better building your own. Probably the power supply would not support a 6800GS, and then you probably would have to change the case because computer makers use weird form factors, and then your motherboard might not fit....

Look at http://computerforum.com/showthread.php?t=37635 for more options

I know this is more expensive, but you would get a whole lot better computer for a little more:
* Corsair Value Select PC3200 2x512 CL2.5 ($67.98)
* NEC 3550A DVDRW ($39.75)
* Xclio GOODPOWER 500W [12V@29A] ($48.00)
* RAIDMAX xB ATX-528B Case ($22.50)
* Maxtor DiamondMax10 250GB 16MB PATA ($92.00)
* Athlon 64 X2 3800+ [Manchester, Socket 939 Lidded OmPGA, 2000MHz, ADA3800DAA5BV] ($297.00)
* Sapphire 100130L-BL X800GTO² 256MB ($149.00 after $20.00 MIR)
* MSI RD480 Neo2-FI [RX200] ($80.99 after $10.00 MIR)
* SUBTOTAL: $797.22

This would be closer to your emachines price. Of course, I forgot that you would need windows xp, so you'd have to add $90 to these prices.

Thanks for the comments (so fast too).

I was gonna build my own but then I'd have to pay shipping on parts. I was also looking at the prices and it seemed like i couldnt do much better by building my own.

BTW It comes with a 17 inch CRT.

Did you notice in his first post he was asking how to change the title of this thread?

Anywhay, that isn't a bad deal, though you have to consider the fact that there is only one PCI slot, and you'd have to make sure the Power supply is strong enough, and that it has a PCIx16 slot.

Thanks.
It seems like a good price, until i ad the 90 for windows (and the emachines came with Media Center) and 50 (is that about right) for shipping. Would i notice a large difffernce between the 3800+ and the X2 3800+? Also I havent heard much about the X800. Is that about the same as a Geforce 6800 GS?

It depends what you use your computer for. If you multitask, or play games that can utilize both cores of the X2 3800+, you will notice a huge difference.

There are three things to know about the X800GTO:

1. The X800GTO in the cheaper configuration is a downclocked version, at 400mhz core/700mhz memory, so it is not as good as a regular X800GTO

2. The regular X800GTOs are clocked at 400 core/900 memory. They are bascally equivalent to the 6800GS.

3. The X800GTO2 can be unlocked to 16 pixelpipelines and overclocked to X850XT PE speeds, so they are a great value (My Connect3d X800GTO was able to as well, though Connect3d is not making it possible to unlock it anymore for cards produced after +- December)

So there's your crash course on the X800GTO/X800GTO2

Thanks.

So everyone is in agreement that building my own computer for about 700 USD (Including Shipping and the OS) would be a better deal than the T6420 and a 6800GS (I wouldnt have to pay shipping) i mentioned in my first post. That seems kinda hard to believe but ill keep looking into building my own system.

Thanks for all the helo

I should have asked this before, but:
How much is the 6800GS you would get, with shipping?
